Create your medical ID
In order to create your medical ID card, you will need to make sure you have Health app installed on your device. If you don't, this is easily downloadable from the Application Store .
Once the Health app is open, tap Medical ID then Edit . You will now be able to enter your emergency contacts , health information including birth , weight and blood type and more. Enter data that you would be comfortable giving to a healthcare professional.
When you're happy with your entries, you'll also want to enable Show When Locked to make sure it shows up on your locked iPhone screen . In an emergency, you will want emergency services to still be able to access your medical information.
When you're done with your information, including any notes you want to add about medications or conditions doctors need to know about, tap Done . Now that you have Show When Locked enabled , lock your device to show how your Medical ID will now be accessible to emergency personnel.
From your lock screen, tap your home button to reveal your password screen, then tap Emergency in the bottom left corner. You will see the Emergency Call screen appear and under the keypad on the left, Medical ID . Tapping on it will open a very simple screen displaying all the information you have added to your ID.
This is a great tool that Apple has implemented for their users so many times in emergency situations this information is not readily available from the patient. There are now many instances where these medical identifiers can be used to hopefully save more lives.
