The photos app has never been so feature-rich before. Whether it's the notable privacy-centric feature that restricts third-party access to images, or the Photos widget that offers a preview of selected photos right from the home screen, the Photo Library deserves plenty of praise. Another feature that caught my attention is the “Filter”. As the name suggests, it allows you to filter your photo library images on iPhone and iPad running iOS 14 to ensure that your photo library only displays selected images or videos.

Filter Images in Your Photo Library on iOS 14 and iPadOS 14

What makes filters so useful is the ability to let you control what type of images should appear in the library. Whether you want to show just a few select images or have the photo library neatly organized with just a certain number of shots, you need to make the most of filters.

If you want to use filters to organize your photo library on iPhone or iPad, let me walk you through the quick steps!

  • Using Filters in the Photo Library
  • Edit filters in the Photo Library

Using Filters in Photos Library on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.

2. Now, tap on the Library tab located at the bottom left corner of the screen.

3. Next, tap on the All Photos option at the bottom of the screen.

4. Next, tap on the three dots (placed horizontally) in the upper right corner.

5. Next, select Filter from the context menu.

6. Now you have several filters to choose from: Favorites, Edited, Photos and Videos (by default, “All Items” is selected). Note that you have the possibility to choose several filters. So, select the filters that suit your needs. After that, make sure to tap on Done to confirm.

It is more or less that ! Now only the selected type of photos will appear in your photo library.

Use filters to keep your photo library perfectly organized

This is how you can filter images in Photo Library on iPhone and iPad. As I always want to see my photo library uncluttered, I found it to suit my tastes.

iOS 14 also offered a better way to hide the hidden album, which was long overdue. So, if you want to keep some of your personal pictures a secret, check out this feature as well.

And just in case you haven't tried all of the photos app's video editing tools yet, head over here to learn how to sharpen videos using the built-in video editing tools.
