L; DR:

  • Peacemaker has been greenlit for Season 2.
  • James Gunn has teased more cameos in the upcoming outing.
  • There are several DCEU characters that could make an appearance.

Peacemaker Season 1 ended in February, but DC Extended Universe fans are already looking forward to the next outing. And director James Gunn gave them another reason to get excited. According to Gunn, the show will have other ties to the DCEU. And while additional Justice League appearances aren't guaranteed, there will be more cameos in Peacemaker Season 2.

The Peacemaker season 1 finale saw Task Force X defeat the butterflies, but the group is joined by some familiar faces at the very end. Although they arrive too late to participate in the fight, the Justice League make an appearance in the final episode. Silhouettes of Superman and Wonder Woman appear in the background, while Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) interact with the main characters of the series.

The moment is played for kicks, but it reaffirms Peacemaker 's place in the DCEU. And with the series greenlit for a second season on HBO Max, it looks like we could see Christopher Smith (John Cena) and his friends meet more DC characters.

James Gunn Says 'Peacemaker' Season 2 Will Have More Cameos

Not only is Peacemaker lit for Season 2, but James Gunn recently confirmed he's working on another DC project. This is great news for fans. And it looks like the director's content will tie into the larger DCEU, with the possibility of more exciting cameos on the horizon.

During an interview with Total Film (courtesy of Games Radar), Gunn teased it, revealing:

“I think we're going to see more connections in other things as we move forward with Peacemaker and other shows on HBO Max. So those [cameos] will keep coming. I don't know if the Justice League is going to appear in every season of Peacemaker; it could be a unique thing. We'll see! »

If the Justice League isn't here for Peacemaker Season 2, who else might appear in future episodes? DC has a few major releases debuting over the next few years, so there are a number of options.

There's no word on when Peacekeeper season 2 will arrive, but James Gunn's DCEU projects will likely release amidst the many movies Warner Bros. planned for 2022 and 2023.

Some of them follow Justice League characters like Aquaman and The Flash, but others will focus on Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) and Shazam (Zachary Levi). They are not part of the Justice League team, but they promise to play a leading role in the future of the DCEU. It's possible they'll run into Gunn's characters on the road.

Of course, the many personalities from The Suicide Squad , Peacemaker , and Gunn's unnamed project could also interact. Many of them have met before, and they are circling who might bring them together again.

We'll have to wait and see who else Peacemaker comes in contact with, but there's one thing we do know: he'll probably have a ridiculous insult to throw at them.

Peacemaker Season 1 is currently streaming on HBO Max.
