A fuel accumulator dumps $1,800 worth of gasoline on the street

If you're thinking of hoarding gasoline or diesel fuel now that the price keeps going up every day, think about what you're doing. And don't try to use plastic trash bags or laundry baskets to hold heavy liquid gold. Like this person in Tecuci, near Romania. The unidentified fuel hoarder used a large plastic container to hold his purchase, only to have it spilled onto the street. All 250 gallons of it.

Panic gas buying shouldn't be like this

The gas crisis is happening all over the world as Russia continues to beat Ukraine. Between Russian fuel shipments halted and countries like the United States banning it completely, as the price goes up and up, consumers are trying to be “creative.” The person in question was obviously not creative enough. That, and the panic buying that invariably comes with gasoline crises like the one we're entering now.

He or she used a flatbed truck with a large plastic container to hold over 250 gallons of diesel fuel. It is, although it is illegal almost everywhere to store fuel this way. Even with the metal frame preventing the plastic from tearing, you can't.

How did this gas leak happen?

Gas spill

A gallon of diesel fuel weighs seven pounds, so that was almost 1,800 pounds of stuff. It's a shame that someone at the gas station didn't explain this before the pumping started. But more on that later.

And this weight moves in each container. That's why those tankers you see are running so slowly. The fuel collector was not up to this, and as he or she turned down the street, the container shifted and then fell off the tray. And in the street. Without the container frame somehow tied to the board, the inertia will get you. Or in this case, the container.

Panic buying does not necessarily imply panic driving if that is indeed what caused the spill. Or could it have been distracted driving? Maybe it was an act of God or a case of real-time Darwinian results? Whatever the reason for the spill, this person's bad luck was just beginning.

The driver and the gas station will be fined

Fill the tank ?

According to Digi24, the spill happened in an area with many security cameras. Once the driver saw his spill, he jumped into his truck and sped away. But authorities believed it was egregious enough to investigate. Security footage will help locate the driver. That, and the receipt for the diesel fuel.

So, in addition to the embarrassment and loss of around $1,800, the driver will face a fine. And the gas station too. They will take a hit for allowing the fuel to be contained in this way. Hopefully this will prevent it from happening again, at least at this resort in Romania.

Ford service centers fall short of JD Power rankings

JD Power released its 2022 U.S. Customer Service Index (CSI) study on March 9, and the rankings revealed Ford fell short of most recent model year vehicle owners. Ford scored 838 points out of a possible 1,000, beating brands like Honda, Kia and Volkswagen. The segment average for consumer brands was 844.

What factors influence Ford's low ratings in after-sales service? JD Power does not provide specific brand-by-brand details, but does provide comprehensive views of the automotive service industry.

Why are Ford service customers dissatisfied?

There are a variety of valid reasons why Ford service customers might be unhappy with their experiences scheduling and receiving service and repairs for their cars. Ford has had major recalls in recent years, although it touts its "built-in-hard" marketing. Recalling thousands of vehicles in one area can cause significant scheduling challenges for dealers and frustration for customers.

Recent supply chain issues have also caused problems for dealers needing to order parts. JD Power reports that average wait times for auto service scheduling have increased by almost a full day, possibly due to improved Covid protocols. Many of these factors are beyond the control of dealers, but JD Power's rating scale covers more than just satisfaction with planning.

JD Power bases its 1,000-point scale on five categories, weighted in order of importance:

  • service quality (32%)
  • service advisor (19%)
  • vehicle pick-up (19%)
  • service establishment (15%)
  • commissioning (15%)

Ford service is below average, but improved from last year

While the Ford brand ranked 12th this year, that's up from last year's 14th place in the same survey at 833 points with a segment average of 843 points. Top customer service scores this year can be linked to improvements to the FordPass app, which helps customers schedule appointments directly from their phone and speed up the service process.

Modern service offerings like valet parking, app-based payment options, and the convenience of remote service (having a technician come to your home or office for vehicle maintenance) have changed the service experience. and the JD Power Customer Service Index study was updated this year to reflect this.

Is this an indication of an upward trend for Ford?

Overall, JD Power finds that customers consistently trust good service

JD Power shared key findings, including strong customer preferences for SMS reminders, valet or mobile service, and photo or video communication related to recommended or needed repairs.

One of the most positive lessons for Ford and new car dealerships in general is that people always have faith. The average score for the statement “I trust the dealership to perform complex repairs on my vehicle” is an astonishing 6.16 out of 7 points. This means Ford dealerships can focus on the factors they can control and improve the overall customer experience for their new car drivers.

It will be interesting to see how the JD Power customer service ranking changes next year, with more dealerships embracing online and app-based communication, remote services and the unique challenges of EV servicing.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E wins the award for hybrid or electric vehicle of the year according to Moyens I/O

The Mustang Mach-E has done it again. Moyens I/O has chosen the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E as the winner of our first prize for hybrid or electric vehicle of the year. What makes this Ford EV one of the best electric or hybrid vehicles in 2021? The electric SUV is packed with safety features, thoughtful technology and a range that suits most lifestyles. Ford has spared no effort when designing the Mustang Mach-E, and it's evident when you first step into the comfortable cabin.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is Means I/O's best electric vehicle in 2021

The Ford Mustang Mach-E Moyens I/O is the best electric vehicle of 2021

No matter where you look, the Mustang Mach-E is quietly winning awards. It's not hard to see why, though. Ford took some risks with the latest EV, but those risks paid off. When our own writer, Allison Barfield, got the chance to drive the Mach-E, she was impressed.

“The Mach-E offers luxurious and practical features while being sporty and fun to drive. As the first Ford vehicle to be specifically designed as an electric vehicle without a gasoline or hybrid model, it's a success.

Allison Barfield | EngineBiscuit

The Ford electric vehicle has a long list of standard safety features and technologies, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and dual-zone climate control. Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking and more are included. The electric SUV also has a 360 degree overhead camera and a front camera to allow the driver to maneuver the vehicle as needed.

The Mustang name is familiar to drivers, helping them ease the process of switching to an electric vehicle. This may have contributed to the rapid success of electric SUVs. While most drivers could be in electric cars for the foreseeable future, the electric Mustang is leading the way right now. No matter where you look, experts and regular drivers alike agree the Mach-E deserves praise.

Ford plans to ramp up production of Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle next year

Means I/O editor Allison Barfield had the opportunity to drive the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The Mach-E has an impressive EPA-estimated range of 305 miles. The all-wheel-drive option cuts that to 270 miles. The Ford EV is available in four trim levels, including Select, Premium, California Route 1 and GT. Pricing for the 2021 model year is between $42,895 and $59,900.

At this point, Ford struggled to keep up with production of the popular vehicle. The automaker has promised to increase production next year. In fact, Ford hopes to more than double production of the Mach-E to around 70,000 next year alone. After that, the automaker hopes to double production again. Ford has also worked to give the 2022 Mustang Mach-E a longer range, which will likely continue to improve over time. Pricing for the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at $43,895, and it still qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit.

In Ford's November 2021 sales figures, the data shows how well the Ford Mustang Mach-E sold. Ford sold 3,088 units in November alone, which was mostly hampered by semiconductor-related supply issues and pandemic-related slowdowns. So far this year, 24,791 Mach-Es have been sold.

Ford had a bumper year with vehicles like the Mustang Mach-E, Ford Bronco and Ford Maverick constantly in the news. In fact, these vehicles have the fastest turnover rates on dealer lots. The average is 12 days, which means Ford is focused on getting buyers into new cars fast.

Either way, it's clear that the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is a winner. With different trim levels and other options available, Ford has created a Mach-E for everyone. It's a fun and practical option with a battery life long enough to satisfy most daily commutes. The best electric vehicle or hybrid vehicle of 2021 has been decided this year, but will the Mustang Mach-E still be able to hold its own against the competition next year? That's yet to be determined, but it looks like Ford has a good head start.

Means I/O gives the Ford Mustang Mach-E an expert rating of 8.4 out of 10

As Ford's first electric vehicle, the 2021 Mustang Mach-E had a lot to prove. However, that's exactly what it did in its first year on the market.

“This Mustang stays true to its sports car roots with impressive acceleration, responsive handling and improved performance. It serves as a relaxing daily driver with a highly engaging unbridled drive mode.

Allison Barfield | EngineBiscuit

With a variety of trim levels and options to choose from, the electric SUV is suitable for a variety of needs. Congratulations to Ford for making such a compelling choice in winning the first Medium I/O Hybrid or Electric Vehicle of the Year.
