Spider-Man: No Homecoming teamed up with Tom Holland and Zendaya along with several Peter Parker heroes. Doctor Strange cast a spell bringing Tobey Maguire from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy and Andrew Garfield from The Amazing Spider-Man films back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Phase 4. However, fans wanted more. Marvel fans pushed a campaign for an Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man 3 on Twitter, and Sony responded.
Tom Holland would support Sony if they revisit 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' and Andrew Garfield
As Sony expands its own universe with that of Jared Leto Morbius and Tom Hardy 's Venom , fans wanted Andrew Garfield to join them in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in 2022 or beyond .
#MakeTASM3 is trending on Twitter as various actors responded to the fan push. Tom Holland said Sony would have his backing if they brought Garfield back as webhead.
“I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to make amends with the character and the studio to win back mainstream audiences,” Holland said. ComicBook Phase Zero Podcast .
“That scene where he saved Zendaya, the fan reactions to the theater were so spectacular. So if Sony decided to do it, they would have my full support, and obviously Andrew too,” he continued.
As Marvel actors caught wind of the fan campaign, Sony addressed fan demand for more stories from the Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone films.
Sony Responded to Andrew Garfield's 'Amazing Spider-Man 3' Trend
Sony has posted a trailer revisiting the Marc Webb Amazing Spider-Man films and the return of Garfield. It highlighted "The Amazing Peter #3" and even the tragic death of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) at the hands of the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan).
However, it also showed the touching moment of redemption in Spider-Man: No Coming Home when Andrew Garfield grabbed MJ (Zendaya) after Spider-Man's villains knocked her off the top of the Statue of freedom.
However, in the tweet, Sony's Twitter team responded to fan calls for more Andrew Garfield and The Amazing Spider-man 3.
“Note: Yes, we have seen the hashtag. No, we don't decide which films will be made. We are just the social team,” they said with a smiley face.
Could Peter #3 Return In The MCU, 'Morbius' Or Another Sony Movie?
Unfortunately, Sony's response on Twitter does little more than acknowledge fan pressure for more Andrew Garfield and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 .
Sone suspected that the last Morbius delay was so Sony could add Garfield to the film. However, Garfield himself has raised the possibility of him returning as webhead.
"I [have] no plans, that's the truth," Garfield told Variety at the 2022 SAG Awards. "Everybody's gonna call me a liar for the rest of my life." I'm the boy who cried wolf now, that's right.
For now, it looks like Spider-Man: No Homecoming served as the last hurray for 2014's Spider-Man.
Yet, in a world where Marvel can bring together three generations of Spider-Man, anything is possible.
