How to Get Always-on Display on Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime
However, at the end of the day, it is still a budget device and therefore lacks typical Samsung features such as Always On Display (AOD) or backlit buttons. Well, there isn't much we can do about the hardware buttons, but something can definitely be done about the always-on display.
As you may already know, Samsung's AOD feature illuminates only part of the screen with minimal impact on battery life. Since this is an AMOLED-only feature, this is one of the reasons why the Galaxy On7 Prime lacks this feature apart from the price factor.

However, don't worry, we have come up with a nifty workaround, through which you can get the Always On Display on your Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime without root.
Note : AOD is best suited for devices with AMOLED screens
1. Always On Samsung Screen
In October 2017, the good folks at XDA cloned Samsung's Always On Display feature to work on other Samsung phones with an AMOLED screen and running Android Nougat.
The good thing about this method is that it doesn't need any special ADB permissions and it doesn't require you to root your Android phone. Luckily, the app produces great results and can easily be forced to run on the Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime.
Since the app is under development, you can expect some minor bugs. However, the developer promised that they would be addressed over time.
Step 1: Install the necessary apk files for this feature to work. The first is the Always On Display standard file and the second is the Always On Display plug-in service.

Install the Always On Display file first, then the plugin.
Step 2: Go to display settings on your Galaxy On7 Prime and scroll down. You will either find the AOD as a separate option or you will find it hidden under the search for something other banner.
Now all you have to do is enable the feature and grant the necessary Android permissions. That's it! Simply lock the device to see the effect kick in.

Settings and customization
When it comes to customization, you can select what content you would like to see on the screen. Moreover, you can also choose the clock face or color according to your preference.
Another good thing about this app is that the fingerprint sensor works perfectly. I have configured such that a simple press on the sensor wakes the device while a long press opens the Google assistant.
The only downside of this app is that the battery consumption is a bit high. This is where the third-party app comes into play.

2. Look More
The third-party app on our list is the Glance Plus app. This app has been on the play store for a long time and has a number of customization hacks.
Step 1: As soon as you install Glance Plus, it will ask you for Android permissions needed to setup AOD.
Step 2: Once done, enable the AOD feature. Another setting you need to enable is the autostart on boot option.
To turn it on, head over to Other Settings and toggle the switch to On.
Once done, all you have to do is lock your device. The sleep clock will kick in a few seconds after the display turns off.
Settings and customization
Similar to the app above, Glance Plus lets you customize the Always On Display screen to your liking. On the one hand, you can set the style of the clock or activate the display of weather information, among others.
Moreover, it even changes its position randomly. Unlike the native Always On Display, the unlocking part is a bit different. You will need to press the power button once and then unlock the phone.

Get the most out of your Galaxy On7 Prime
Device screens have been a major strength of Samsung phones and that of the Galaxy On7 Prime is no different either. It packs the same level of punch with a crisp display and accurate color reproduction.
Although the Play Store offers a number of apps, which allow you to have the Always On Display feature, the two mentioned above produced the best results.
